About Our Driving School

Tanya has lived in and around Lexington since 2009. She is married to Jim, a mom of three adults, and a Yaya to three grandchildren (future Apex graduates)! She is passionate about social media and marketing to help Apex connect to its local community and future students.

Jim has lived in and around Lexington since 2009. He is married to Tanya, a dad to three adults, and a papa to three grandchildren. His encouraging and energetic approach will make you laugh and feel comfortable behind-the-wheel. He is determined to help you build confidence and conquer your goals!

Sabrina has lived in and around Lexington since 2009. She is married and a mom to three boys. She is the oldest daughter of the owners. She shares the same energetic and encouraging attitude. She wants to help all students and their families feel prepared and ready for every lesson.

Randy grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and currently lives in Wilmore. He is a devoted family man, happily married to his wife Amanda for 22 years. They have three wonderful boys and share their home with three lively dogs.

Randy's passion for being a Certified Driving Instructor stems from his love of driving and his desire to teach others. His full-time job is driving a bus for Jessamine County schools.

In his spare time, Randy enjoys hanging out with his family, riding his motorcycle, and traveling.

Introducing Shana, the driving instructor, with a spark! When she's not guiding new drivers on the road to success, this wife and devoted dog mom can be found creating her lush indoor jungle and getting lost in books from her library.

Shana is not your average instructor. She's always up for an outdoor adventure, whether diving into a good book or hitting the open road on her Harley. When she's not revving up her bike, you might spot her exploring new places, rocking out at concerts, or passionately shaping safe and confident drivers.

With Shana, learning to drive is more than mastering the basics— it's about embracing life's thrills, savoring the moment, and ensuring every journey is fun and safe.

Nate grew up in Illinois and moved to Lexington in 2017. He retired from the military in 2021. He loves to cook and spend time with his family. He married his High School sweetheart (even if she didn't know that then), and they enjoy exploring nature when not enjoying their two children. Nate looks forward to helping others learn how to drive safely on the road, no matter the conditions. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, running his lawn care business, and being constantly reminded of the joys in life by his two kids (and crazy dog).

Josh grew up in NJ, lived in Uganda for 10 years, and has lived in Wilmore, KY, since 2021. Josh is married to Kelly, has 4 kids, and a Golden Retriever named Zazu. Josh has always loved to drive and recently began teaching his teenage sons, which gave him the idea of working as a driving instructor. He wants everyone to enjoy driving, have confidence behind the wheel, and drive safely. As an instructor, Josh is calm and enjoys helping students gain their confidence one step at a time. In his spare time, Josh enjoys spending time with his family, walking his dog, and going hiking and camping. A cup of coffee is also never far from Josh's reach.

Benji grew up in Frankfort, Kentucky, and brings local insight and a heart for helping others to his role as a Certified Driving Instructor. Married to his wife Jennifer for 25 years, Benji is a proud dad to Jake and Macie. Their home is also shared with Molly the dog and Lulu the cat. Benji is passionate about equipping students with the confidence and skills to become safe, capable drivers. He finds it deeply rewarding to watch students grow behind the wheel and master a skill that will serve them for a lifetime. In his free time, Benji enjoys being outdoors—whether it's hiking, walking, or playing a little golf—and cherishes time spent with his family.

Jordan has lived in and around Lexington since 2009. He is married and has 2 dogs. He is the son of the owners. His full-time job is as a project manager at the University of Kentucky. His passion is to ensure that each of our fleet vehicles is equipped with all the safety equipment required and that each vehicle is maintained.

Dawson has lived in and around Lexington since 2009. He works as a project estimator at the University of Kentucky. He and his girlfriend have 3 cats. He is the owner's son and assists Tanya with special projects and initiatives.
